10 EASY STEPS ON HOW TO SEAL YOUR BROKEN WINDSHIELD GASKET

A vehicle with a broken windshield gasket is one thing you definitely don’t want to drive. Beside the safety hazards, it’s not the most appealing thing to view. There are a lot of imperative steps in which you must take in order to successfully replace your windshield gasket. As a plethora of Mississauga auto glass experts have said, the amount of waterproof seal that you obtain is extremely imperative too.

Your Checklist
The list below displays everything you need prior to proceeding to repair your windshield gasket. You should refrain from starting the repair process unless you can confidentially select everything from off of this list:
·         Tape measure
·         Mineral spirits
·         Window cord
·         Windshield gasket sealer
The Steps
Expert auto glass technicians urge you to follow the steps listed below for the purpose of effectively repairing your windshield gasket.
Step 1: Carefully remove the old windshield gasket. Double check to ensure every piece has been removed especially if corrosion occurred. (Sometimes some of the windshield gasket can corrode into the frame).
Step 2: Place your new windshield on a clean, padded surface. It is imperative for you to refrain from placing it on a hard surface as this may lead to damage.
Step 3: Use something, such as a marker, in order to mark the bottom centre of the windshield.
Step 4: Use a tape measure in order to determine the true centre of your windshield.
Step 5: Begin attaching the windshield gasket to your windshield. You must align the joint of the windshield gasket up with the mark that you made on the bottom of your windshield and work the windshield gasket around the perimeter of your windshield.
Step 6: Start applying your windshield gasket sealer beneath the forward edge of the windshield gasket. Many Mississauga auto glass workers lift back the edge of the gasket and brush the sealer between it so that can refrain from missing a single spot.
Step 7: Mix luke warm water with some soup and gently pour it along the windshield opening or the outer edge of the gasket. This is done for the purpose of lubricating either the outer edge of the gasket or the windshield opening.
Step 8: Put the window cord into the groove of your windshield gasket and use tape in order to carefully tape the ends to the inside of the glass.
Step 9: Gently pull the cord out of the groove of your windshield gasket in order to seal it into the frame of the windshield.
Step 10: Clean up any excess windshield sealer using mineral spirits as soon as you are finished.
