HOW TO LOWER YOUR WINDSHIELD REPAIR COSTS

Fixing just about anything that has to know with your car can be quite costly – and this surely does include windshield repair. In the Greater Toronto Area, over 50% of the population is unfortunately welcomed to a crack or chip on their windshield. North York auto glass companies continue to see a rise in customers due to poor road conditions, bad driving habits, car accidents and more. There are situations that you can avoid, and some that you can’t – but regardless of the situation, you can surely cut costs. Our experts have provided you with some imperative information that will save you both time and money.

Find a Reputable Auto Glass Shop
It is imperative for you to know that every auto glass store is not the same. Unfortunately some technicians aren’t as trained as others. When it comes to something as important and your windshield, you must ensure you enter an auto glass repair shop that is both experienced and fair. Some repair shops will provide you with the wrong information so that they can make more money, and other shops may even give you the wrong information simply because they are not properly trained. If your auto glass technician is unable to identify the type of crack that you have – they are most likely not equipped to do the job. There are different techniques that must be used and those techniques depend on the type of crack that you have.
Always ask your friends and family if they have any referrals and in addition to that, do some research yourself. Hiring an auto glass company that has no clue what they are doing will result in you having to pay more for repairs. If an inexperienced company wrongly repairs your windshield, they will most likely deny that they were at fault. This would then result in a court case that would cost you 20x more than a simple auto glass repair. So, always repair to call on a professional company and avoid those who don’t seem too confident.
Don’t Just Look For Cheap Costs
I’m sure we’ve all heard the term, “you get what you pay for” right? This same statement applies in relation to the auto glass industry. If you call around and receive quotes from let’s say 5 companies, and the lowest quote is significantly lower than the rest – you should probably avoid that company at all costs. You want to hire a company that has high quality products and reasonable prices. If you have called 5 companies, go for the company that doesn’t cost too much or too little. Once you find that company, do a bit of research on them.
Repair Your Windshield ASAP
Leaving even the smallest crack in your windshield is a horrible idea. Reason being, there’s no telling when it’s going to grow. If it grows over 18 inches, you’ll need to replace your entire windshield, which, in turn, will result in you spending triple what you would have spent had you replaced your small chip. Always refrain from leaving a small crack or chip in your windshield – the result is not worth it.
Check Your Insurance Policy
Before repairing your windshield, call your insurance company and see if you’re covered. Windshield damage falls under the comprehensive section of your insurance. By checking your deductible, you can see if the cost to replace the damage is lower than your deductible. If it is lower, then you should just repair your windshield yourself. If it is higher, ask your insurance company to cover it.
Repairing your windshield will not affect your insurance rates or label you as a high risk driver.
