HOW TO PREVENT WINDSHIELD FOG AND DEFROST YOUR WINDSHIELD

There’s nothing more annoying than the act of windshield fog obstructing your view from the road ahead. If your ultimate goal is to safely reach your destination, then you should undoubtedly take all preventive measures pertaining to the many causes of windshield fog. Around the globe, North York auto glass experts continuously educate their clients about the many ways in which they can prevent windshield fog. Once you know this, you can guarantee a safe trip to and from.
 Use Your Defroster
Especially during the winter months, your defroster becomes your best friend. The sole purpose of the defroster is to emit warm air unto the windshield so that condensation does not occur and all of the fog is disbursed within minutes – sometimes seconds. A common mistake made by most drivers is the act of using the circulate button. It’s imperative to know that this button merely circulates the same air throughout the car, as opposed to bringing in air from the exterior of the car.
Is Your Defroster Broken?
Although this is something you should fix immediately, you can surely work around it for a certain amount of time. Once you notice fog build up on your windshield, slightly open up your car windows. In order to get rid of the condensation, a change in temperature is needed – as such, regardless of the temperature, the new air that is entering your car will defrost your windshield.
How to Defrost Your Windshield Without Air Conditioning
Blowing hot air unto your windshield should work just fine if you find yourself in a situation where fog is obstructing your views and you know your air conditioning is broken. However, if in your case, your heating system isn’t helping out much, you can simply open up a few windows. If that still doesn’t work, read the next point below – as this will explain exactly what you should do in the event that your heat is also not working. In addition to the points you’re about to read, it has been said by many North York auto glass  professionals that you can use a towel, or microfibre cloth in order to wipe the excessive moisture off of the window. Leaving your car windows slightly cracked upon exiting your car will also help reduce moisture and clear up that annoying fog.
How to Defrost Your Windshield Without Heat
Every driver in the Greater Toronto Area is greeted by fog during the winter months – there’s really no escaping it. Most days, upon entering your car, you’ll probably see nothing but fog on your windshield. It’s bad enough that it’s already freezing outside – so let’s see how our experts say you can quickly solve your fog issue:
·         The Deicing Trick – Firstly, you need a high quality de-icing formula. They’re available for purchase at your local auto glass shop or department stores. Secondly, spray this formula all over the exterior area of your windshield. Thirdly, use your ice scraper (after the formula has successfully melted the ice) and remove the ice from the windshield. Fourthly, wipe down your windshield on the interior with a rag, and then quickly turn your windshield wipers on from the inside, as this will remove the moisture from the inside of your car.
Use A Portable Defroster
Portable defrosters work like a charm, as they are extremely helpful in cases where the heater is broken. In most stores, they sell for around $55 and they are easily accessible in the Greater Toronto Area. In order to get the defroster to work, you must first turn on your car. After this, point the defroster at your windshield and continuously move it around in different directions. This will rid the windshield of fog in no time. Lastly, use a rag in order to wipe the extra moisture off the interior side of the windshield and turn your windshield wipers on.
Fog Issues in the Winter time
Besides ice, I’m sure we can all agree that fog is our number one enemy in the winter time – and not just windshield fog, but window fog too. Can you imagine trying to switch lanes, turn or reverse without having the ability to see through your window due to fog? Do you know how to effectively get rid of this fog? Well, luckily for you, our Scarborough auto glass champs will discuss this in the next post.
